Vella Williams

Canton - Vella Duvall Williams, age 89, died Monday, September 19, 2005 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was a native of Clay County and had resided in Haywood County for 69 years. She was the daughter of the late William Bascomb and Texia Morgan Duvall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman G. Williams who died in 1989, three brothers and three sisters. She retired from Champion International with 40 years of service as a registered nurse and was the supervisor of the Champion Medical Department and a member of the Old Timers Club. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by a sister, Virgie Henson of Canton; a step-sister, Gertrude Massey of Chattanooga, TN and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road with the Mr. F. M. Gray officiating. Memorials may be made to Bon-A-Venture Cemetery Fund, 32 Rhoda Street, Canton, NC 28716 or to one's favorite charity.
