VELMA J. LEDFORD

Waynesville-Velma Jones Ledford, age 77, of Links Lane, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at her residence.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Justice Jones and Maude Bussell Jones. She was also preceded in death by her spouse, James W. Ledford, who died in 1989.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Lee, and her husband, Rick, of Waynesville, and Sherry King, and her husband, Bert, of Hendersonville; a sister, Eunice Beck, of the Bethel Community; a brother, Carl Jones, of Canton; three grandsons, Tony and Shane Pope of Canton, and Timothy Pope of Clyde; a step-grandson, Tai Lee of Waynesville; and great grandchildren, Michael and Tamara Pope of Canton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2003 at the Garrett-Hillcrest Mausoleum chapel with Reverend Riley Covin officiating. Entombment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the service at the mausoleum chapel, and at other times, the family will be at the home of Susan and Rick Lee.
