Verna Pressley

Canton - Verna Mae Williamson Pressley, age 82, of 1439 Murray Road died Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Swain County and was a resident of Haywood County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late William M. and Stella Mae Justice Williamson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Perry Pressley who died in 1986 and also a step-daughter, Frankie Harkins.

She was a retired custodian with the Haywood County School System.

She is survived by two daughters, Ann Kuehl of Newman, GA and Juanita Walls of LaPlata, MD; a step-daughter, Eleen Farmer of Canton; one son, Carroll Jenks of Canton; one step-son, Kenneth Pressley of Waynesville; one brother, Robert Williamson of Asheville and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Williamson of Canton; special friends, Leila and David Young of Canton as well as a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30th at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend James Parham officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:45 - 3:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
