Vernon Henson

Vernon "Pickle" Henson, age 77, died Friday, June 05, 2009 at the Brian Center of Waynesville. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Earl and Bessie Nations Henson and was preceded in death by a brother, Vennoy Henson and a sister, Virginia Blythe. He retired from Champion International with 41 years of service and was a member of Crestview Baptist Church. He survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Blythe Henson; two sons, Larry Henson and his wife, Linda, of Canton, and Robert Henson and his wife, Pam, of Waynesville; two daughters, Sharon Brown and her husband, Walter, and Anita Singleton and her husband, Mike, all of Canton; one sister, Violet Snyder of Canton; three brothers, Valgene, Vanise, and Verlin Henson all of Canton; six grandchildren, Jason, Amanda, Sheena, Shanna, Lauren, and Lindsey; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Glenna Henson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 at Crestview Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Sprinkle, Reverend Dean Clontz, and Reverend Matthew Pruett officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Rob Tyler, Greg Blythe, Shane Lanning, Mike Willis, Michael Stevenson, and Jason Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan and Corey Brown, Tanner Lanning, and his Sunday school class. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of the arrangements.
