Canton - Victor Lee Parker, age 85, of Woodland Drive died Saturday, March 20, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Macon County and had resided in Haywood County most of his life. He was the son of the late Wilbur Booth and Parthemia Houston Parker and his stepmother, Nettie Wilson Parker.
He retired from Champion International with 36 years of service. He was a member of Rocky Face Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a U. S. World War II Army veteran serving in the South Pacific.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Helen Reynolds Parker of Canton, he is survived by two daughters, Diana P. West and Mary Martha Paxton both of Canton; a son, Ricky Lee Parker of Canton; two brothers, John Parker of Canton and Wilburn Parker of Waynesville as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2004 at Rocky Face Baptist Church with the Reverend Donnie Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road, with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 21st at Rocky Face Baptist Church. At other times, the family will be at the home.
