Candler-Vincent Ray "B. C." "Audie" Murphy, age 77 of 27 Indian Branch Road, died Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Aston Park Nursing Home in Asheville. He was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Bronson C. and Pearl Mehaffey Murphy. He retired from American Enka with 41 years of service and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. He served as an usher and men's Sunday school teacher and was a United States Army Veteran. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ella Mae Galloway Murphy of Candler, one son, James Ray Murphy and his fiancé Pam Davis of Candler, two sisters and their husbands, Ruth and Frank White and Ruby and Ray Davis, all of Candler, one brother, Paul Murphy and his wife Leta of Morganton and a special friend Marie Anders. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. Pastor Charles Shelton and Reverend Virgil Holloway will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka. Pallbearers will be C.B. Weatherman, James Lovingood, Ralph White, Charles White, Donald Lindsey and Wade Caldwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe DeBord, Sam Burton, Dr. Il Sung Lee and Dr. William Haynes. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church, P.O.
