Viola Mcdaniel

Waynesville-Viola Franklin McDaniel, age 90, formerly of N. Welch Street, died Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Mige and Vinnie Coward Franklin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Edward McDaniel who died in 1957; a son, David Lawrence McDaniel; and two daughters, Mary Ann McDaniel and Betty Vellano. She retired from Wellco in 1970.

She is survived by three daughters, Jackie Browning of Raleigh, Sharon Rathbone of Clyde and, Joan Greenman of Columbia, SC; a son, Charles E. McDaniel of Waynesville; two sisters, Katherine McFalls and Jane Wood; a brother, Lawrence Wood, all of Waynesville; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 5 step great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend DeWayne Rathbone officiating.
