Virgie Crawford

June 3, 1921 — November 5, 2009

Waynesville, Virgie Mae Crawford, age 88, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Autumn Care Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the youngest child of the late James David and Mary Etter Crawford. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Howard, Elmer, Oran, and Thomas "T.M."; seven sisters, Dorothy Rhodes, Bertha Crawford, Mary Crawford Williams, and Legie, Sally, Letha, and Rosetta Crawford. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank a special caregiver, M.A. Bonham, who was a light in Virgie's life, and all the caregivers at Autumn Care for their special love and care. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Vergie's nephew, Reverend Leon Stewart, officiating. Burial will follow at Gwyn Cemetery, Cruso, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Flowers are appreciated.
