Virginia S. Clontz, age 80 died Sunday, August 03, 2003 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
She was a native of Hopewell, VA but had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was a daughter of the late Harve and Minnie Myers Shepard and was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert V. Shepard. She retired from American Enka in 1969 and was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Canton. She was a life member of Central United Methodist Church Women's Auxilliary and was in the choir for many years. She enjoyed taking care of her home and was a former volunteer at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Frank J. Clontz, one son, Robert J. Clontz and his wife Genni of Canton and 2 grandchildren, John R. Clontz of Asheville and Sara C. Monson of Canton.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Carrol Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home, 78 Wesley St., Canton, NC 28716.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
