Virginia Gaddis

January 12, 1927 — May 4, 2009

Waynesville, Virginia Lee Gaddis, age 82, of Cherokee Street, died on Monday, May 04, 2009 at Mission Hospital. A native of Rutherford County, she had lived most of her life in Haywood County, and was the daughter of the late Luther and Rosa Robinson Lee. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Gaddis who died in 1982; four sisters, and six brothers. She retired from Wellco after 22 years and then worked at Community Care II and McCracken Rest Home for several years. Virginia enjoyed sewing, ceramics, working with her flowers, and reading her Bible. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Free Will Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Harry Gaddis, Jr. and his wife, Juanita, of Clyde; three daughters, Hattie Sue Bonham, of Bryson City, Marlene Burnette of Waynesville and Gail Gaddis, of Waynesville; one brother, Paul Lee, of Waynesville; two sisters, Carrie Laney, of Robbinsville and Christine Shelton, of Valdese; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Oliver Cagle and Reverend Phillip Wyatt officiating.Serving as pallbearers will be the grandsons, Alvin, Eddie, and Phillip Cutshaw, Russell Gaddis, Wayne Burnette and Wesley Gibson. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
