Virginia Gribble

VIRGINIA M. GRIBBLE

Waynesville-Virginia Maness Gribble, age 82, of Windmeadow Drive, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 at her residence.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Annis Clark Maness. She was also preceded in death by a son, Rondal Gribble, who died in 1978; three sisters, Joyce Gentry, Justine Maness, and Jewell Ann Valentine; and a brother, Clifford Maness. She was employed by the Haywood County Department of Social Services for 10 years and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in the Mountains.

She is survived by her husband of more than 62 years, Earl Robert Gribble; a daughter, Linda Gribble York, and her husband, Bonner, of Greenville, SC, a son, Michael Gribble, and his wife, Bobbie, of Peachtree City, Georgia, a brother, George W. Maness, Jr., of Hartsell, Alabama; a sister, Winona Maness Raines, of Newport, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Vicky Gribble, of Atlanta, Georgia, Kristi York Wooten and her husband, Tim, also of Atlanta, and Alan York of Little Rock, Arkansas; and one great granddaughter, Audrey Virginia Wooten.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Grace Episcopal Church in the Mountains with Reverend Dr. Howard W. White, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Grace Episcopal Church Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
