Virginia Rhodarmer

Waynesville, Virginia Irene Lanning Rhodarmer, age 79, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late John and Dessie Mae Mathis Lanning. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Seby David Rhodarmer who died December of 2005; three sisters, Hazel Robinson, Louise Parker and Dorothy Gibson and four brothers, Hubert, Richard, Junior and Clarence Lanning. Virginia retired from Central Cleaners and was a member of Camp Branch Freewill Baptist Church. She adored all her family and especially loved vegetable and flower gardening. She is survived by a son, Seby Neil Rhodarmer and his wife, Mary; two daughters, Sue Shuler and her husband, De Roy, of Waynesville and Virginia A. "Sissy" Givens and her husband, Barry, of Statesville, NC; two sisters, Ruth Ellis and her husband, June, of Gastonia, NC, and Florence Caldwell of Waynesville; two brothers, James Lanning and his wife, Goldie, of Maryland, and Dewey Lanning and his wife, Suzann, of Waynesville; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Heath Davis and Reverend Bo Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Barry and Shawn Givens, Archie Shuler, Tai Rhodarmer, Levi Caldwell and Lee Robinson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home and at other times, the home of Seby Neil Rhodarmer. Memorial may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
