Canton-Virginia Lee Shipman-69, of Brookside Drive, died Monday, January 27, 2003 at Harris Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
She was a native of Martinsville, VA and had lived most of her life in Canton. She was a daughter of the late Oswald Lee and Rosie Burns Shipman. She was also preceded in death by her brother James C. Shipman.
She is survived by two sisters, Lillian Blankenship and Louise Lance and her husband Poley all of Canton, a brother, Wade Shipman, Sr., and his wife Edith of Waynesville, a half-brother, George C. Griffin and his wife Jewel of Ridgeway, VA, 2 special great-nieces, Leanna Evans and Sheila Whitted both of Canton, several aunts and uncles and lots of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Chris Willett officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery.Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence of the sister, Lillian Blankenship, 199 Brookside Drive, Canton, NC 28716.
