Vivian Ward

Maggie Valley, Mr. Vivian Ward, 91, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Walter and Ora Brown Ward and was also preceded by his wife, Mae Burr Ward, who died in 2013 and two brothers, Joe and Harry Ward. Vivian was a farmer and enjoyed gardening and horses, but most of all loved spending time with his grand young'uns. He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Shelton (Greg) of Maggie Valley and Anna Lee Hall (Freddy) of Canton; two sons, Scotty Ward (Kim) of Maggie Valley and Ricky Ward (Carolyn) of the Fines Creek Community; a sister, Thelma Smith, also of Maggie Valley; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the residence, 14 Big Barn Drive with Reverend Jerry Nelson and Reverend Bobby Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Ward Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
