Von Hart

Canton-Von Hart, age 41, passed away unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at his residence at 672 Windswept Ridge in Canton on December 12, 2006. He and his partner had just returned on December 10th to their mountain-top home to live in his beloved mountains from Stuart, Florida, where he had lived in the Stuart and Port St. Lucie area for 10 years. Von was a former business owner in Stuart, Florida where he started and operated ColourWrks Salon, until he recently made the decision to return home. He was a Senior National Educator and Color Specialist for Paul Mitchell and was well known in South Florida for his professional talent and his hair color workshops with area salons. Von was a firm believer in giving back to his community by giving a portion of his business revenue to local charities. He had previously worked in Waynesville at Genesis I, and in Las Vegas, Nevada and Port St. Lucie, Florida as a hair stylist. Von was born in Sylva and had lived in Waynesville while growing up and was a 1983 graduate of Pisgah High School. Many people in Haywood County will remember him as a member of the world champion clogging team, Magnum Cloggers and the Carolina Cutups. Von is survived by two daughters, Shelly Teague and husband Joshlyn of Waynesville and Shanna Hart of Stuart, Florida; his mother Phyllis Childers and stepfather Charles of Maggie Valley; his father C. B. Hart of Sylva; his grandson, Austin Teague; two stepsisters, Paulette Childers of Waynesville and Debra Bryant of Lincolnton; and grandfather, Harvey Blevins of West Jefferson. Von is also survived by his life partner, Dean Heisler of Canton and formerly of Stuart, Florida. Von had requested cremation and no burial site service will be held. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. to celebrate Von's life on Friday, December 15, 2006 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. A memorial service for Von will be held in Stuart, Florida in January. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hibiscus Children's Home, P.O.
