Voy Franklin

Waynesville, Voy F. Franklin, age 89, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late, Dewey and Dorothy Browning Franklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Franklin died in 1972; son, Troy Franklin; son-in-law, Doug Sanford; daughter-in-law, Darlene Franklin; three brothers, William, Kenneth and Benjamin Franklin; sister, Louise Penland. Voy was a member of Cove Creek Baptist Church. She was a devoted woman of God with a tremendous love for her family. Her unconditional support as well as her delicious biscuits and gravy will forever be remembered. Voy is survived by three daughters, Mary Sanford, Brenda Gunter, and her husband, Kenny, of Waynesville and JoAnn Parton, and her husband, Leroy, of Seymour, Tennessee; one son, Danny Franklin, of Killen, Alabama; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Ferguson and Reverend Jeff Heatherly officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
