Waynesville-W. Thomas ''Tommy'' Page, age 54, of Short Street, died Sunday, August 10, 2003 at his residence, following an extended illness.
He was a native of Haywood County and was the son of the late Hilliard and Sarah Mae Davis Page. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Matthews and Gloria Jean Haney.
He was a US Navy veteran retiring with the rank of Petty Officer First Class in 1989 with over 20 years of service. During his military career he served aboard the Polaris Missile Submarines: the USS Daniel Webster SSBN626, USS Von Steuben SSBN632, the USS James K. Polk SSBN645 and the submarine tender USS Hunley AS31. After his retirement, he worked with the Post Office in Hendersonville as a distribution clerk. He was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Debra Fulbright Page; one daughter, Sarah L. Page, of the home; one son, Adam Page and his wife Jennifer of Sylva; two granddaughters, Madison and Meredith Page.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes. Pastor John Greene will officiate. Burial will be at Fulbright Cemetery with military honors conducted by the US Navy. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
The pallbearers will be Ronnie, Jack and Danny Mills, Perry Buchanan, Kevin Bowan, Gary Broom, and Chris Watkins.
