Clyde, Wade Allen "A.J." Baker, age 44, passed away on August 19, 2015. A native of Marshalltown, Iowa, he was the son of Darrell Gene and Candace Brown Baker. Wade was a US Army veteran of the first Gulf War where he received the Bronze Star with Valor for acts of heroism. He later served in tours of both Macedonia and Bosnia. He was a member of the American Legion Post 47 and VFW Post 891 in Asheville. Wade had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. He loved fishing and hunting with his family and friends. Wade will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his valiant service to his country and his love of family. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 11 years, Michelle Baker; three daughters, Kyla, Dana and Kayla; six sons, Tanner, Gage, Mason, Nicholas, Jackson and Jakobi; a sister, Laura Thomas of Iowa; and his loyal service dog, Honor. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at WNC Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain with Reverend Phillip Wyatt officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the National Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
