Walter Stanley Hyatt, Jr., age 80, of Leicester, formally of Arden, NC, went to be with the Lord, Friday, August 11, 2006. He was the son of the late Walter Stanley and Augusta Hyatt Godfrey and the husband of the late Edith Brookshire Hyatt who died in 1997. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Hyatt and Billy Joe Hyatt. He was a veteran of World War II, and served on the USS Pittsburg. He was retired from Biltmore Manufacturing and did electrical work on the side. He was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He is survived by five sisters, Pauline Duckett, Dixie King, and Marie Rickard, all of Leicester, Helen Cox of Asheville and Betty Greene of Fayetteville, GA; three brothers, Bobby and David Hyatt of Leicester and Mike Hyatt of Candler; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2006, at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Neville Story officiating. Burial will be at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
