Walter Woody

Walter Gerald "Chip" Woody, age 66, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Mission Hospitals – St. Joseph Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Marion Jesse and Eula Hanks Woody. He was also preceded in death by five brothers. Chip enjoyed working in his flower garden and listening to gospel music. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Ellen Woody and James Edward Burke of Canton and Brenda Lee Woody and Wayne Luther of Canton; a son, Rick Woody of Elmer, New Jersey; two sisters, Christine Humphry of Bridgeton, New Jersey and Linda Brussica of Franklinville, New Jersey; three brothers, Lester "Bud" Woody of Cedarville, New Jersey, Donald Woody of Bridgeton, New Jersey; and Harold Woody of Franklinville, New Jersey; two grandsons; Dustin James Sellers and Aaron Michael Woody; and a great-granddaughter, Sophia Leann Woody. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend William Terrell officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
