Walter Wyatt

Waynesville, Walter Wyatt, age 85, of Ridge Road, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Estes and Atlas Anders Wyatt. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers, Salem, Hobert, Odell and Ralph Wyatt and a sister, Virginia Jones. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in WWII. Walter retired from Dayco Corporation with 37 1/2 years service. Walter enjoyed all types of sports and was a member of Hazelwood First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ellen Wyatt; a son, Keith Wyatt and his wife, Kathy, of Waynesville; a daughter, Carmen Wyatt Wilde and her husband, Richard, of Clyde; three sisters, Bonnie Wyatt, Shirley Mehaffey and Sandra Heddon; two brothers, Ray and Alvin Wyatt; three grandchildren, Julie Riva and her husband, Tony, Caroline Parrish and her husband, Mike and Colt Wilde; one great-grandchild, Will Riva and many nieces and nephews. Gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
