Canton-Wanda Rose Pipes Sheffield, age 87 died Monday, October 13, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Roanoke, VA and had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Judson and Ella Poff Pipes and was the wife of the late Weaver C. Sheffield who died in 1979. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Clovis P. Biggerstaff. Mrs. Sheffield was a member of Clyde Central United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was active in the Democratic party. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by five daughters; Norma Long Cole and her husband Bruce of Clyde, Joyce Ann Kesner of Berea, KY, Janet Marie Kirk of Franklin, OH, Linda June Williams and her husband, Earl, Jr. of Nashville, TN and Wanda Carol Mead and her husband Dennis of Gaylord, MN, one brother, Orval Pipes of Pasadena, TX, 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Chris Westmoreland and Reverend James Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the home of Norma and Bruce Cole, 50 Oak Street, Clyde, NC 28721.
