Wanda Waldroop

September 26, 1929 — August 29, 2005

Canton- Wanda McDaris Waldroop- age 75 of 14 Hazel Street died Monday, August 29, 2005 at her residence. She was a native of Buncombe County but had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Henry Grady McDaris and Genevieve Plemmons McDaris Vetoe. Mrs. Waldroop was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church serving as the organist, the past Sunday School Superintendent and interpreted several years for the hearing impaired. She was Past President of Canton Garden Club, retired after 20 years with the Town of Canton and spent four years interpreting for Haywood County School System for hearing impaired students. She went to Gallaudet College for the deaf in Washington, DC to further her knowledge of sign language. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Carroll Waldroop; three sons, David E. Myrick, Jr. of Candler, Michael Waldroop and his wife Annette of Charlotte and Enos Carroll Waldroop of Candler and one granddaughter, Ariel Leigh Waldroop. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with The Reverend Tim McRee officiating. The family will receive friends in the undercroft of the church following the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Canton are in charge of the arrangements.
