Wayne Burnette

June 24, 1941 — April 20, 2005

Waynesville-Wayne H. Burnette, age 63, of Delanne Drive, died on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Hobert and Allie Miller Burnette. He was a curb hop at Charlie's Place, Boyd's, and at Ammon's Drive-In for the last 15 years. He attended Barberville Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, playing music, growing roses, and landscaping. He appreciated nature and loved to observe wildlife. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marlene Gaddis Burnette; his stepmother, Helen Burnette, of the Cruso Community; two daughters, Cynthia Marsh and her husband, James, of Clyde and Amy Burnette of the home; a son, Wayne Burnette, Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; six stepsisters; two stepbrothers, Marvin Burnette of Waynesville and Donald Burnette of KY; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2005 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with Reverend Emile Wolfaardt officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, and at other times, at the residence. Memorials may be made to the Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 931, Waynesville, NC 28786.
