Wayne Clark

Canton- Wayne Columbus Clark - age 86 of 95 Academy Street died Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native and lifelong resident and a son of the late Reverend Luther F. and Sue Ellen Hembry Clark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Stone Clark who died in 1992 and a grandson, Rusty Clark who died in 2005. Mr. Clark retired as a lab technician from Champion International with 43 years of service. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of North Canton Baptist Church. Wayne was devoted to his church serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for nearly 55 years. He also volunteered with Haywood Christian ministries. He is survived by two sons, Allan B. Clark and his wife, Deborah of Easley, SC and Roger Clark and his wife, Audrey of Clyde; one sister, Ruby Sue Thompson of Athens, TN; three grandchildren, Becky Kuykendall and her husband, Tommy of Clyde, Gary Clark and his wife, Faith of Easley, SC and Rhonda Lister and her husband James of Anderson, SC and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2006 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend James Lister and Reverend W.O. "Bill" Henson officiating. Burial will follow in Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on the Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
