Wayne Davis

Waynesville, Samuel Wayne Davis, age 82, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late William and Bertha Moore Davis.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Knox Ledford Davis who died in 2004; a son, Gregory Lane Davis; grandson, Austin Wayne Nicholson; four sisters; and five brothers.  Wayne proudly served in the United States Army; he retired from Dayco Corporation as a Supervisor with 35 years of service.  Wayne was a member a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church and was active in his church and sang in the choir.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, his cats, working with his flowers and riding around with Sally and dining out.

Wayne is survived by a daughter, Angela Nicholson; son, Phillip "Dean" Davis; four sisters, Leona Byrd, Pauline Rigsby, Mary Evelyn Cogdill and Ruth Stevenson; special friend, Sally Ledbetter.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The care of Mr. Davis has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
