Wayne Moore

Clyde, Wayne Jesse Moore, age 85, of the Fines Creek Community, passed away on Thursday, July 12, at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Hardy R. and Mary Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Moore and was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Sutton Moore, who died in 1989, and one daughter, June Moore Justice. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and retired from the Dayco Corporation after 31-years service. Wayne was a member of the Salvation Army at Shelton Laurel where he served as Corps Sergeant Major for 48 years and also taught Sunday-School. He enjoyed fly fishing, loved to farm, and will be remembered for his beautiful flowers, especially his gorgeous dahlias. Wayne loved gospel music and his greatest desire in life was to follow God and be a Christian example to his family. He is survived by four daughters, Carol Ledford and her husband, Carroll, and Shirley Green, all of Clyde, Brenda Haney and her husband, Edward, and Waynetta Arrington and her husband, Dean, all of Waynesville; son-in-law, Harry Justice, of Clyde; one sister, Mary Jane Osborne of Kernersville, North Carolina, and Dee W. Moore and his wife, Barbara of Martinez, California; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church with Captain Kenny Clewis, Reverend Jimmy Moore, and Major Jean Frese officiating. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
