Wayne Rathbone

Wayne E. "Pa Wayne" Rathbone, age 72, of Burnette Street died Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Smoky Mountain Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Emmanuel and Mary Lou Noland Rathbone. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and Odell Rathbone; and a sister, Edna Williamson. He was the owner of Wayne's Radio and TV Service of Canton for 41 years. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mickey Lee Chastain Rathbone; three sons, Eugene Rathbone and his wife, Marquetta, of Canton, Terry Wood and his wife, Gwen, of Canton, and Jimmy Rathbone of Canton; a brother, Bill Rathbone of Canton; seven grandchildren, Matt Rathbone, Mandy Wood of Canton, Cristan Wood of Sylva, Casey Stroupe and her husband, Wesley, of Enka, and Jammie and Jerrett Rathbone of Waynesville; and four great grandchildren, Seth Taylor, Jacob Rathbone, and Seth, Clay, and Cheyenne Wittrup. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend David Williams and Reverend Martin Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Clark Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
