Wayne Trantham

Clyde, Wayne Trantham, age 81, of the Fines Creek Community, passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 at The Homestead Hospice Center in Clyde. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the son of the late Jesse Clyde and Georgia Mae Duckett Trantham. Wayne was also preceded in death by a sister Juanita Trantham. He was a self-employed farmer and was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Wayne was very active in the Fines Creek Community where he was instrumental in helping to form the Fines Creek Community Association as well as planning many community events such as monthly dances and the annual Fines Creek Bluegrass Festival. He will also be remembered for his love of music and dance. Wayne loved his family dearly and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances Rector Trantham, two sons, Jeff Trantham and his wife Shirley and Ronald Trantham, all of Clyde; one daughter, Susan Ledford and her husband Michael of Clyde; one sister, Judy Johnson of Clyde and 8 grandchildren; Brian, Brandy and Jason Ledford, Caitlin, Megan and Luke Trantham, Koty and Dalton Trantham and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Dorothy Thomas-Shinn and Reverend Paula Dempsey will officiate. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
