Webster Burr

January 9, 1920 — August 28, 2008

Webster Bills "Web" Burr, age 88, died Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Rochester, NY, he was a son of the late John Edwin and Ethel Bills Burr. He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth B. Nixon and one brother, John E. Burr, Jr. Web retired as an electrical engineer for Rochester Gas and Electric Co. in 1985 and was a member of Canton Presbyterian Church. He was a United States Marine veteran having served in World War II as a sergeant serving in the Pacific Theater on Guadalcanal and in the Marianas Islands. He is survived by his wife, Jean Viola Hunsinger Burr; two daughters, Chris Burr Nolan of Perry, NY and Sally Burr Morgan and her husband, Dr. Brad Morgan, of Canton; one brother, Robert N. Burr of Port Jefferson, NY; grandchildren, Megan and Molly Morgan, Jennie Nolan, and Katie and Scott Church; one great-granddaughter, Holley Rae Church; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Canton Presbyterian Church with Pastor Pete Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps. Memorials may be made to Care Partners Hospice Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813 or to Friends of Mt. Hope Cemetery, 1133 Mt. Hope Ave., Rochester, NY 14620, or to a favorite charity of one's choice.
