Waynesville, Wid Woodrow Wyatt, age 87, of the Allens Creek Community, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late James Frank and Lena Aldridge Wyatt. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Dewey, Henry, Robert, J.B., Dale and Noble Wyatt; two sisters, Mary Dalton and Lena Hull; and a niece, Carolyn Fletcher. He was a US Army veteran of World War II where he served in the 30th Infantry Division, Company B, "Old Hickory" and later retired in 1985 from Dayco after 32 years service. Wid was an avid mountain stream fisherman and loved the outdoors. He also enjoyed farming and raising a vegetable garden. He was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church and was very active in his Sunday School class. Wid had a great sense of humor and had a heart of gold. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nell Allen Wyatt; two daughters, Delores Dudley and her husband, Robert, and Sharon Rathbone and her husband, David Charles; a grandson, Wayne Dudley and his wife, Ashley; special friend and fishing buddy, Bill Snipes; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Allens Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Deitz and Reverend Lloyd Fish officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
