Clyde, Wilbur Joseph Teague, age 83, of the Fines Creek Community, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2011. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Joe Silas and Ella Hunter Teague and was also preceded in death by a stepsister, Bertha Moody and a stepbrother, Hobert Kirkpatrick. He grew up at Walter's Dam and was a maintenance caretaker at CP&L for 45 years. Wilbur was an avid outdoorsman, who especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed playing his guitar and listening to and playing bluegrass music. He was a fireman for the Fines Creek Volunteer Fire Department and a member of White Oak Baptist Church. He always thought of others and helped anyone in need. Wilbur loved life and his family and lived each day to its fullest. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Willa Mae Kirkpatrick Teague; children, Jimmy Teague and his wife, Edna, of Waynesville, Judy Morrison and her husband, Steve, of Asheville, Cathy Clark and her husband, Darrell, of Waynesville and David Teague and his wife, Freida, of Canton; one sister, Doris Bramlett and her husband, Jack, of Waynesville; six grandchildren, Tracy Carver of Waynesville, Crystal Greene (Tony) of Clyde, Melody Rose of Jonesborough, Tennessee, Kelsey Ferguson (Nathan), Nathan Clark (Jenny) of Waynesville, and Natalie Clark of Dillsboro, North Carolina; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at White Oak Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Putnam and Reverend Maurice Sheehan officiating. Burial will follow at White Oak Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Phil Hunter, Bruce and Hobert Fisher, Bruce Medford, Nathan Clark, and Kelley Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Greene, Steve Phillips, Rick Freck, and Charlie Teague. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
