Canton - Wilburn Van Holland, 87, passed away into eternal life and the presence of his Lord, early on Sunday morning November 5, 2017 at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Vincent H. Holland and Daisy Shook Holland Heatherly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Heatherly. Wilburn retired from Dayco after 40 years of service and served on the Dayco Fire Brigade.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Frances Murphy Holland; three daughters, Gail (Jack) Creson of Hendersonville, Brenda (Terry) James of Etowah, and Deborah (Dale) Inman of Canton; one son, Jerry (Lila) Holland of Canton; one sister, Martha Jean Whitt of Akron, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend J.D. Grant and Reverend Jeff Heatherly officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Wilburn's son and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren.
