Wilburn Wells, Sr.

Wilburn Benjamin Wells, Sr., age 74, died Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late William and Hassie Plemmons Wells. He was also preceded in death by a son, Allen Wells; a brother, David and a sister, Loraine. He graduated from Canton High School in 1949. Mr. Wells was employed with Magnavox for 25 years and was a member of High Street Baptist Church. He retired from the North Carolina National Guard serving with the 211th and 210th military units. In addition to his wife of 53 years, Flora Jones Wells, he is survived by three sons, Rex Wells and his wife, Belinda of Asheville, Ben Wells and his wife, Brenda of Candler and Scotty Wells and his wife, Rebecca of Candler; a brother, Bob Wells of Huntsville, AL and three grandchildren, Caroline, Elena and Daniel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Christopher Willett officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Davita Waynesville Dialysis Center, 11 Park Terrace Drive, Clyde, NC 28721
