Wiley Price

SMSGT Wiley Carroll Price, age 73, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home from complications of Parkinson's and Lewy Body Disease. Born In Canton, NC on October 13, 1932, he was the son of the late Burgin and Rhetta P. Price. He was a veteran of the US Air Force with 20 years of service having served during the Korean and Vietnam era. He retired from the US Postal Service with 21 years of service with his last position being Postal Supervisor in Waynesville. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Price and Burgin Price, Jr. and two sisters, Agnes Owen and Annie Dean. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Paula Sue Devlin Price; two daughters, Jessica Brown and her husband, Ronnie of Waynesville, Johnna Carol McNamara and her husband, Steve of Hendersonville; two granddaughters, Kelly Jane and Jennifer Caroll McNamara; one sister, Fannie Yon of PA, and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday November 30, 2005 at Ridgeway Baptist Church of which he was a member, with the Reverend Jackie Collins and Reverend Wayne Willet officiating with Larry Poston delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery with Military graveside rites conducted by the United States Armed Forces. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home in Canton. Pallbearers will be the deacons of Ridgeway Baptist Church with honorary pallbearers being the deacons of Springhill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CarePartners, 68 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803 or Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 525 old US 19/23 Highway, Candler, NC 28715. The family would like to extend very special thanks to MountainCare, Mountain Mobility and Pisgah Manor, especially the certified nursing assistants, who took such good care of Wiley during his illness.
