Willa Hoglen

Candler - Willa Dean Roberson Hoglen, age 83, of Old Cathey Road died Sunday, September 2, 2007 at Memorial Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a daughter of the late Rufus Homer and Margaret Hutchison Roberson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrel Hoglen, who died in 1984; three brothers, Hoyt, Lester and Nolan Roberson and one grandchild, Brad Hoglen. Willa Dean was a member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's group. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking and meeting with her friends in the Triple L Club. She had a special place in her heart for her five grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Larry Hoglen and his wife, Nancy, and Edward Hoglen all of Candler; five grandchildren, Brian, Alan and Brandon Hoglen, Kelly Hoglen Baxevanis and her husband, Alex, and Melissa Hoglen; two great-grandchildren, Abby and Katie Hoglen; three nieces, Carolyn Pope and her husband, Frank, Norma Moore and her husband, Don, and Ellen Roberson, all of Candler and one nephew, David Roberson and his wife, Susie, of Texas; several more nieces, nephews, great -nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Snow Hill United Methodist Church with Reverend Molly Anne Tyson and Reverend Todd Cole officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
