WILLARD HANEY Clyde-Willard C. Haney, age 67, of 20 Hill-N-Dale Drive, died on Wednesday, June 08, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Willard N. and Patricia Knight Haney. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Veta Jo Haney. He was a retired millwright for 38 years at Champion International before his retirement. He was a naval veteran and served during the Cuban missile crisis. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking and was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church where he served as a former Sunday School director and teacher. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Ruth Waters Haney; a daughter, Vanessa Haney, of Sylva; three stepdaughters, Janet Day Gibson and her husband, Bobby, of the Bethel community, Denise Castellon of Canton and Marquetta Sloan of Easley, S.C.; a stepson, Gregory L. Day and his wife, Leslie, of Franklin; three sisters, JoAnne Henson and her husband, Albert, of Waynesville, Doris Harris and her husband, Mike, of Mt. View, MO, and Sue Nuttal of Glen Burnie, MD; two brothers, Sandy Haney of Atlanta, GA and Charles Haney and his wife, Carolyn, of Candler; ten grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2005 at White Oak Flats Baptist Church in Nantahala with Pastor Richard Horn and Reverend Garry Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Aquone Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2005 at Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Presnell, Phil Bright, Brandon and Luke Gibson, Joshua Higgins, Darrell Head. Flowers are welcome and memorials can be made to the Aquone Cemetery Fund, c/o Dwight Waters, 697 Long Branch Road, Topton, NC 28781.
