William Blaylock

Canton-William Shay Blaylock, age 90, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Mary Ellen Revis Blaylock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Artega Moore Blaylock who died in 2002 and three sisters, Carrie Cooke, Pearl Heatherly and Vernie Smith. Shay was a United States Army veteran serving in WWII. He was a retired employee of the American Enka Corporation with 35 years service. Shay made yokes for oxen, and was an avid coon and bear hunter, he was also an accomplished carpenter and loved to work in his garden. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, Doug Blaylock and his wife, Vicki; a daughter, Virginia "Ninno" Trull, and her husband, Charles, a sister, Bessie Fish, all of Canton; a brother, Charles Ray Blaylock of Clyde, and five grandchildren, Heidi Rogers and her husband, Billy, Shannon Blaylock and his wife, Brandy, Megan Blaylock, Staff Sgt. Sandra Trull and Randy Trull and his wife, Rita and six great-grandchildren, Shala Reeves, Lana and Haley Blaylock, Kiana Trull, and Kristin and Kara Miller. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend James R. Burress, Reverend Greg Cullen and Reverend Dr. Perry Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with Military gravesite rites. The family will receive friends 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care that Silver Bluff Nursing Home extended not only to Shay, but all of his family.
