William Brain

Waynesville, William Gordon "Bill" Brain, age 73, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Smoky Mountain Health Care and Rehabilitation. A native of Jamestown, New York, he was the son of the late George and Dorothy McNitch Brain and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Wicks. He was a US Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. Bill and his family operated the Inn on Prospect Hill in Waynesville and later worked at Waynesville County Club and retired from Maggie Valley Country Club in 2013 after 20 years-service. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing golf and carving walking sticks. Bill is survived by his wife of 40 years, Martha West Brain; a daughter, Sandy Ritz and her husband, David, of Albany, New York; a son, William Brain and his wife, Maureen, of Monroe, Washington; a sister, Bonnie of Deland, Florida; and one grandson, Jayme Brain, also of Monroe, Washington. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Sanford L. Giles, Jr. officiating.
