William Buchanan

Waynesville - William "Bud" Buchanan, Jr., age 72, of 1166 Allens Creek Road died Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late William E. and Martha Snyder Buchanan. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Ethel M. Buchanan, who died on February 26, 2005; three sisters, Letha B. Wyatt, Rubye B. Bumgarner, and Joyce B. Fortner; and one brother, Peb Buchanan. He was employed in the Shipping Department at Dayco for 36 1/2 years before his retirement. He was a US Navy veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Allen's Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Gloria B. Marsh and her husband, Phil, of Camden, SC and Beth "Babbie" Mangum and her husband, Dwayne, of Charleston, SC; one son, Tim Buchanan, and his wife, Dawn, of Waynesville; two sisters, Maudie B. Davis and Ann B. Pace and her husband, David, both of Waynesville; one brother, Harry Buchanan and his wife, Lolita, of Candler; six grandchildren, Billy Marsh of Travelers Rest, SC; Dawn Marsh of Camden, SC, Amanda and Andrea Mangum both of Charleston, SC and Rachel and Sara Buchanan both of Waynesville. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2005 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Sam Snyder and Reverend Eddie Dietz officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Earl Cogdill, Sam McClure, Bob Davis, Roy Haynes, Bill Crawford, and Jack Fisher. Burial will follow in the Buchanan Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47 of which he was a member. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and at other times, the family will be at the residence.
