William Burch

William Boyd Burch, age 88 passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Vasar Downie. and Mae Stevenson Burch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Collins Burch, who died in 2005, and a brother, Roy Burch. Boyd retired from Champion International Paper and was a member of Clyde First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Clyde Masonic Lodge #453 AF & AM and a United States Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by two daughters, Colleen B. Thomas and her husband, Lee, of Hendersonville, and Melanie Burch of Gastonia and Waynesville; two sons, Delane Burch and his wife, Elaine, of Rock Hill, SC, and Val Dean Burch and his wife, Kim, of Hendersonville; one sister, Norma B. Sellars of Canton; three brothers, Linden Burch and his wife, Neal, Carroll "Bill" Burch and his wife, Helen, all of Clyde, and Harold "Bobby" Burch and his wife, Bobbie, of Waynesville; a sister-in-law, Verna Burch; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. T. David Phillips and the Reverend James Parham officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
