William Thompson

Clyde – William Carl “Bill” Thompson, 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at his residence.

Bill was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Carl Winston and Anne Cagle Thompson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy “Faye” Price Thompson, who died in 2016; a son, Dean Thompson, who died in 2020; and two brothers, Ronnie and Donnie Thompson.  Bill was a member of Clyde Church of God and retired from Champion International in 1992 with 32 years of service.

He is survived by a son, Jerry Thompson and wife, Dana, of Clyde; one sister, Rachel Parker of Waynesville; a brother, Doug Thompson of Charleston, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Ashley Thompson, Dena Thompson Snead and husband, Matt, and Jeff Thompson and wife, Brittni; and two great-grandchildren, Aspen and Dominic Thompson.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2021 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Michael Nations officiating.  Entombment will follow at The Horizon at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1:45 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
