William Choate, Jr.

Clyde, William Hampton "Hamp" Choate, Jr., age 53, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013. A native of Matthews, NC, he is the son of William Hampton, Sr. and Marion Ellis "Bige" Howell Choate of Jonathan Creek. He managed the family owned Winngray Campground and was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Hamp enjoyed hiking, running, visiting Hilton Head Island and spending time with his family at Lake Fontana. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Michelle Wright Choate; four sons, William Hampton Choate, III, Dylan David Choate, Beau Mark Choate and Pre Ellis Choate all of Clyde. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor C. Thomas Tout officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
