Eugene "Dump" Christopher, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2023 at his residence. He was born on October 25, 1940 in Haywood County. Eugene was beloved by his family, friends, and community. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank Christopher and Edna Davis Christopher, and his brother, Doug Christopher.
In his professional career spanning more than three decades, Eugene served as a mail carrier for 31-1/2 years. His commitment to delivering mail with precision and care made him a familiar face in the neighborhood. Eugene's dedication to his work was commendable and left an indelible mark on the lives of those he encountered every day.
Beyond his profession, Eugene was passionate about farming and worked tirelessly on Christopher Farms and Produce. His expertise and hard work contributed significantly to the success of the business. As a farmer and produce dealer, Eugene took great pleasure in cultivating crops that nourished the community. He found joy in witnessing the fruits of his labor being enjoyed by others. Outside of work, he was a lifelong and active member of Francis Cove Methodist Church and served as the Sunday School Superintendent and Lay Leader.
Eugene indulged in his favorite hobbies of fishing and hunting. These activities provided him with solace and allowed him to connect with nature. Whether casting his fishing line into a serene lake or venturing into the wild for a hunting excursion, Eugene found peace and fulfillment in these moments.
Eugene will be deeply missed by those who knew him well. He leaves behind cherished memories that will forever remain etched in the hearts of his loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce Warren Christopher; their son, "Lil" Gene Christopher; sister-in-law, Eddes Christopher; niece, Stephanie Beasley (Bryan); two special nephews, Greg Christopher (Sherri) and Phillip Warren; one special niece, Sherri Christopher Green (John); as well as great nieces and nephews, Emily, Chad, Abigail, James, Luke, and Logan.
At Gene’s request, a private graveside service will be held. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Francis Cove Methodist Church from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the church pavilion.
