William Crisp

Canton - William Calvin "W.C." (Dub) Crisp, 70 of Haywood County passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 in Asheville, NC after a brief illness. W.C. had been a resident of Asheville, NC for many years before moving back to Canton, NC. W.C. served ten years with the NC National Guard. He retired from Champion International Paper Company after 40 years service. He had worked with Crisp Florist and Crisp Photography before his service with Champion. He was known as W.C. or Dub to everyone. W.C. was a member of West Canton Baptist Church, sang in their choir, and worked with Team Kids Program. W.C. had worked with the youth program at Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church in Asheville, NC. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Haywood County Lodge. He was a Shriner with the Oasis Temple in Charlotte, NC. W.C. graduated from Canton High School, attended Asheville-Buncombe Technical College, Asheville-Biltmore College and the University of NC at Asheville. He graduated from Photographic School in New Jersey. He was a member of the Royal Arcanum Fraternity and had served as the Regent of the Rhododendron Council in Asheville, NC. An avid golfer, a trout fisherman and a bird watcher, W.C. had made many friends throughout his lifetime. He loved Western North Carolina, the Blue Ridge Parkway and was a frequent visitor to the many beautiful mountains. He had many hobbies and collections. W.C. was the son of Malcolm and Florence Conley Crisp who preceded him in death. W.C. is survived by his former wife, Annette; their daughter, Marne' Crisp Davis, son-in-law, Jeff Davis; a grandson, Dylan Davis; a step-daughter, Raynette all of Asheville, NC; one sister Jeanne Crisp Gibson and her husband, Perry Gibson, of Kingsport, TN; two nieces, Cindy and Brianna Edwards, of Kingsport, TN; a two nephews, Kenneth and his spouse, Karen, of Valrico, Fl and Randall Gibson and his spouse, Laura of Kissimmee, Fl. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2006 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Gomer Smith, Reverend George Holley and Reverend Jennings Sizemore officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the celebration of W.C.'s life at the funeral home. The family sends special thanks to his many supportive Doctors, the nurses at Memorial Mission Hospital, the staff at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Asheville, NC and Davita Dialysis Centers of Waynesville and Weaverville, NC.
