Canton - William "Jack" Riley Dixon, age 85, died Thursday, December 06, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a born in Inman, SC but had resided in Haywood County the last 40 years and was a son of the late H.M. and Bessie Hicks Dixon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Johncie Greene Dixon, who died in 1974; one sister, Mary Ann Trull; four brothers, Troy, H.M. Jr., Clinton, and Walter Dixon. Jack was the owner and operator of Jack's Food Bar in Canton for fifteen years and enjoyed cooking for the entire family. He loved fishing the streams and lakes of western North Carolina. Jack served three years in the United States Army and retired a technical Sergeant from the Air Force after 25 years of service. He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Steppleton and her husband, Dale, of Canton, and Nancy Dixon of Candler; three sisters, Sue Eva Foster, Ethel Brooks, and Laura Russell all of Canton; three grandchildren, Tami Alvarez, Tonya Southerland, and Tracy Rogers, and six great-grandchildren, Jessica and Coty Houck, Levi Sheets, Briana Alvarez, Peyton Murphy, and Aydin Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend R. G. Garland and Reverend Alan Blanton officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
