Asheville, NC – Reverend William Wesley Dodge, 96, passed away on March 3, 2012 at Givens Estates. He was born in Fairfax County, Virginia on December 8, 1915, and graduated from American University of Washington, DC and Duke Divinity School. Reverend Dodge served congregations in West Virginia and the Maryland/Washington DC area, retiring to Waynesville, NC in 1980. He was deeply involved in the Lake Junaluska community and enjoyed many hours at his hobby of caning chairs. His greatest joy in life was his family, along with his extended church family, and music. His wife of 68 years, the former Mary Lee Milholland, passed away in 2009. He was also predeceased by one sister. Reverend Dodge is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Dodge, of Turners Falls, MA and his grandchildren, Nathan Miner and his fiancé, Sonia Marcaida, of Baltimore, MD and Benjamin Miner and his wife, Ilene Stahl, of Greenfield, MA. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Charles Henry Dodge and Jane Dodge of Berryville, VA. An interment service for Wesley and Mary Lee is planned for this summer in Stony Point, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to First United Methodist Church, 566 S. Haywood St., Waynesville, NC 28786, Givens Estates, 2360 Sweeten Creek Rd., Asheville, NC 28803, or to the church of your choice.
