Waynesville, William "Bill" Edwards, age 65, of Henson Drive, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late, James and Ruth Bradley Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and Steve Edwards. Bill was employed at Dayco for 32 years, Con-Met for six years, and for the past four years, he was employed in Customer Service at Ingles. He served on the Haywood County School Board for two terms, was County Commissioner for two terms, served on the Board of Directors of Mountain Projects and Haywood County Board of Health. Bill represented the North Carolina Commissioners Association for the Eleventh Congressional District. He coached youth sports and was a member of the Waynesville Masonic Lodge 259, Asheville Scottish Rite, and the Waynesville Lions Club. Bill was an active member of Long�s Chapel United Methodist Church and the Tullis Sunday School Class. Over the years, he held numerous positions within the church. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bette Howell Edwards; one son, Rusty Edwards, of Asheville; two daughters, Adrian Singleton and her husband, Ryan, of Waynesville and Lori Anderson of Asheville; and two grandchildren, Chase and Piper. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Long's Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Charles W. Wilson, III, Reverend Leyton Alan Mears, Reverend Woody Adams, Reverend Del Copeland, and Reverend Stan Smith. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Singleton, Kevin Williamson, Robert Miller, Anthony Turner, David Marcus, and Grover Bradshaw. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Memorials may be made to Long's Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O.
