Canton-William Taylor "Bill" Flynn-85, died Monday, December 30, 2002 at the V. A. Medical Center.
He was a son of the late William Clay and Cora Harris Flynn and the husband of the late Lelia Anna Cook Flynn who died in 1997. He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Thelma Barefoot, Geneive Clark, Sue Jane McClain and 2 brothers, Horace Flynn and Joe Ben Flynn. He was a veteran of the United States Army having received the American Defense Service Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars.
He is survived by two sons, William Taylor "Buddy" Flynn II and his wife Barbara of Canton and Jimmy Lee Flynn and his wife DeAna of Canton and 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wells Funeral Homes of Canton. In case of inclement weather, services will be held in the church. At other times the family will be at the residence of a son, Buddy Flynn, 22 Rhoda Street, Canton, NC 28716.
