William Cecil Ford, age 57, of Surrett Road, died Thursday, January 08, 2009 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late William Joseph and Edna Marler Ford. Cecil was a member of Mount Sheba Baptist Church and he attended Middle Fork Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, and watching Dale Earnhardt, Sr. on Sundays. Cecil was a United States Army veteran. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Brenda Gibson Ford; three sons, Joseph Ford and Brittney, Bill and Angela Kent, and Bob Kent and Cindy, all of Candler; one daughter, Cindy Whitt and her husband, Mike, of Mars Hill; three sisters, Jane Shook and her husband, Junior, of Candler, Liz Turpin and her husband, Dallas, of Asheville, and Linda Inman and her husband, Vick, of Bethel; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two special friends, Sunny Treadway and Billy Ray Minton; and two best buddies, Jacob and Gizzy. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ted Richardson, Reverend Steve Freeman, and Reverend Stanley Peek officiating. Burial will follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
